Lenovo Legion Go: The Ultimate Handheld Gaming Powerhouse Has Arrived
Lenovo Unveils Legion Go: A Game-Changer in Handheld Windows Gaming
Lenovo is making a bold entry into the realm of handheld Windows gaming with its latest innovation, the Legion Go. Designed to rival heavyweights like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally, the Legion Go promises an exhilarating gaming experience on the go.
Taking a page from the Nintendo Switch’s playbook, Lenovo equips the Legion Go with detachable controllers, aptly named Legion TrueStrike, accompanied by a convenient kickstand. These controllers are a gamer’s dream, featuring Hall effect joysticks, a touchpad, an impressive array of 10 re-mappable shoulder triggers, and a scroll wheel for precision control.
But here’s where Lenovo’s innovation truly shines: they introduce a controller base module that magnetically attaches to the right controller, transforming it into a makeshift mouse. Yes, you read that right. The Legion Go can serve as a gaming console and a productivity tool seamlessly. The right controller even incorporates an optical sensor on its underside, emulating the functionality of a genuine mouse.
The Legion Go boasts an expansive 8.8-inch LCD display with a dazzling 2K resolution of 1,600 x 2,560 pixels and a blazing 144Hz refresh rate, putting it ahead of the competition. The touchscreen panel, with a 16:10 aspect ratio and up to 500 nits of brightness, is a marvel of flexibility, supporting various resolutions from 1600p down to 800p and offering the option to adjust the refresh rate to 60Hz for enhanced power efficiency.
Under the hood, the Legion Go is powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z1 series chipsets, including configurations with the formidable Z1 Extreme. Graphics needs are deftly handled by RDNA 3 graphics. Storage options are generous, with a choice of configuring the device with a capacious 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD in the compact M.2 2242 size, and a microSD card slot that can accommodate an additional 2TB of storage. All models come equipped with a uniform 16GB LPDDR5x RAM operating at a swift 7,500 MHz frequency.
For efficient heat management, Lenovo incorporates a dedicated thermal cooling system featuring a liquid polymer blade fan. This fan operates quietly at a maximum of 25dB while effectively handling a graphics power of 25W under Custom Mode.
On the connectivity front, the Legion Go doesn’t disappoint. Two USB Type-C ports support USB 4.0, DisplayPort 1.4, and Power Delivery 3.0. Additional features include a microSD slot and a 3.5mm audio jack, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for seamless wireless interactions.
Running on Windows 11 Home, the device features a distinct overlay known as Legion Space, serving as the central hub for all your games and launchers. Lenovo sweetens the deal by bundling a complimentary three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription with each Legion Go handheld.
With a two-cell 49.2Wh battery supporting fast charging, the Legion Go can go from 0 to 70% capacity in just 30 minutes. And for extended gaming sessions, a power bypass mode is available when connected to power, conserving battery life. Lenovo includes a 65W PD charger as part of the package.
The Legion Go is set to launch with a starting price of $699 and will be available to eager gamers starting in November. Get ready to experience a new era in portable gaming with Lenovo’s Legion Go.
