Over 15,000 Complaints Received by PTA Against Telecom Companies in October 2023

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) received 15,085 complaints from telecom consumers in October 2023, marking a significant increase from the 13,596 complaints recorded in September. Among these complaints, 98.15% were successfully resolved by the PTA, highlighting effective resolution mechanisms.

Complaints were lodged against various telecom operators, including cellular mobile operators (CMOs), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), long-distance international (LDI) operators, wireless local loop (WLL) operators, and internet service providers (ISPs).

Cellular mobile subscribers, constituting a substantial portion of the telecom subscriber base, generated the highest number of complaints. The majority of these complaints, totaling 14,473, were directed at CMOs, with an impressive resolution rate of 98.3%.

Specifically, complaints against major CMOs included 6,308 against Jazz, with a resolution rate of 97.6%, 2,488 against Telenor, with a resolution rate of 98.4%, 3,884 against Zong, with a remarkable 99.8% resolution rate, and 1,786 against Ufone, with a resolution rate of 97.3%.

Moreover, 130 complaints related to basic telephony were received, and 95.4% were successfully addressed in October. Additionally, 461 complaints against Internet Service Providers (ISPs) were recorded, with a commendable resolution rate of 95%. The data underscores PTA’s commitment to ensuring the prompt resolution of consumer concerns within the telecom sector.
