UAE Set to Host World’s Largest Autonomous Car Racing Event and Debut Groundbreaking Flying Car Race in 2024
As the United Arab Emirates (UAE) readies itself to host the world’s most extensive autonomous car racing event in April 2024, plans are underway to introduce the inaugural flying car race, with the UAE emerging as a prime candidate to host this groundbreaking competition. Christian Pineau, CEO of Maca Flight and the leading producer of hydrogen-powered flying racing cars, disclosed that Maca Flight, an autonomous entity derived from Airbus, unveiled its innovative flying racing car earlier this year. Priced at $2 million (Dh7.34 million), this cutting-edge vehicle boasts a remarkable maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour and is characterized by zero CO2 emissions.
Mr. Pineau envisions the flying car race, positioned 4-5 meters above the ground, capturing the participation of 8 to 10 contestants during its inaugural run. Dubai, within the UAE, is being actively considered as the potential host for this historic racing championship, with expressions of interest also emanating from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain. The overarching objective is to establish a flying racing car championship by the conclusion of 2025, with the UAE poised to potentially host the inaugural race. Significantly, this visionary project is being collaboratively pursued with Red Bull, a distinguished participant in the realm of extreme sports.
